History, Mission, Goals

Our History

Formed in 1992, the Florida Rural Health Association was created to provide a mechanism through which interested individuals and organizations in Florida could unite in advocacy for ensuring that all residents of rural Florida have access to a continuum of affordable healthcare.

It is this common interest that binds the FRHA membership and has allowed the development of a common voice for rural health.

Mission Statement:

To safeguard and improve the health of rural Floridians.

Vision Statement:

To be the recognized unifying voice, leader, and expert on health and health care issues affecting rural Florida.

We accomplish this Mission by:

  • Establishing, maintaining, and enhancing relationships and coordination among rural Floridians, rural communities, rural hospitals, County and State agencies, and strategic health alliances;
  • Serving as an information and research clearinghouse bringing together rural health expertise, knowledge, organizing and sharing data and 'best practice' intelligence in meaningful and useful format;
  • Advocating for, and the promotion of, the health needs of rural Florida.

Values Statement:

The Florida Rural Health Association adheres to the following Values and believes they help define the culture and belief system of our organization, while guiding its and its members' decisions, actions, and behavior. They are the essence of the Association's identity:
